Roger Heap Trophy

 Roger had been involved with golf for many years and needless to say he put more into it than he took out. Whilst he was at Halifax Ogden he became President of the Halifax, Huddersfield District Rabbit Golf Association (1978).He later joined Ryburn Golf Club where he again got involved in helping to organise things. He soon became Captain and then President and even up to his death he still actively got involved with projects. He was a champion of good causes and he would work tirelessly to raise money for charity. He donated this trophy to the Halifax Past Rabbits Golf Association to be played for annually. With this legacy he will remain in the memory of all Past Rabbit Captains as long as the Association exists.

2011 Competition

Wednesday 22nd June 2011 at West End Golf Club

Individual Stableford Competition.

Play in three's from Yellow Markers.

(Result goes towards The Order of Merit Competition)

 

32 Members took part in this annual event, which was a great improvement on 2010. It was held at West End Golf Club. The weather was fair but most managed to play without the promised wetting. Only the last 3 ball were caught out and that was only from the 16th onward. The course was in excellent condition and a most enjoyable meal was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Roger Heap was present for the prize giving along with our President and Members were delighted to see them both in such sparkling form. The result are as printed below with the Roger Heap Trophy being won by Declan Keogh, winning with a remarkable score of 41 Stableford points The winner of the 18 - 28 category was Tony Beddis from Bradley Hall with 38 points and our President Mr Robert Mallinson again taking the honours by winning the 0-18 category with 36 points. This is looking very ominous for the "Order of Merit" competition, which the final match is the AWAY Day at Malton & Norton Golf Course on Thursday 18th August, the cost will be a reasonable £55 and a non refundable deposit of £10.00 should be payable to Chris Iredale as quickly as possible.
